The Stirring Up Health™ recipe contest presents an AWESOME learning opportunity for kids! It is a fun activity that allows you to apply math and reading skills; and help meet health education standards. Use it to apply MyPyramid knowledge and practice advocating and setting healthy goals! Healthy Kids Challenge, in partnership with Johnson & Wales University*, announces the 7th annual middle school recipe contest Stirring Up Health™.
Stirring Up Health™ is brought to you by featured sponsors, Cabot Creamery and Mission Foods, two leaders in the food industry making a difference in the market place with tasty, nutritious and family friendly food products.
When: Contest opens September 1, 2008 and ends March 21, 2009 (allowing 1st and 2nd semester students to enter) Winners announced April 2009
Who: Open to all 7th and 8th graders

Contest Categories: Snack and main dish categories
Entry Requirements: Must include cheese and tortillas as primary ingredients, short essay about setting personal healthy goals, photo of the final product, and recipe must be an original or a healthy revised recipe
Prizes: 4 national winners receive a culinary gift prize package and a Chef for a Day visit at their school. A JWU* chef will prepare the winning recipe with the student and share his expertise at a school event
